Where does collagen come from?
Collagen is a protein from animal skin, bones and scales. Supplements use one of four main sources, and the source decides the halal answer.

Why marine collagen is the safest choice
Marine collagen avoids the slaughter question entirely, because all four schools of Islamic law allow fish without slaughter. If you want collagen without doubt, choose a product that says it is made only from fish, and check that it is not blended with bovine or chicken collagen.
Watch out for blends and capsules
"Multi collagen" products often mix bovine, chicken, fish and eggshell collagen in one tub. One doubtful source makes the whole product doubtful. Collagen capsules can also use gelatin shells, so check the capsule too.
