Looking for a halal caterer in Chicago for a wedding, walima or Eid party? Below are 8 caterers we checked. Seven are listed as currently certified in the directory of HMS, the Chicago halal certifier that requires hand-slaughtered zabiha meat; one makes its own zabiha claim, and we say so. Two publish prices: trays from $35, and packages from $20 per person. Every detail comes from the caterer's own website, checked on October 31, 2026.
How we built this list
- Halal status: from the HMS directory of current certifications. If a caterer is not in it, we quote its own website and label it "Caterer's own claim".
- Catering details and prices: only from each caterer's own website.
- Left out: restaurants whose websites were broken, parked or hacked, and one whose old HMS listing no longer appears in HMS's current directory.
- We have not visited these caterers or checked them by phone. Confirm details and current certification before you book.

Before you book
A certificate covers the meat, not every detail of your event. Ask each caterer the halal questions in our guide to halal wedding and event catering: whether all the meat is zabiha, whether anything is cooked with alcohol, and whether desserts contain gelatin. Also ask how many guests a tray really serves, because sizes differ from caterer to caterer, and get the menu and price in writing.
You can check any caterer's current status yourself in the HMS directory, which lists only current certifications.
Where can you find verified halal food in Houston?
On HalalVouch, every restaurant shows its verification tier, whether its meat is zabiha, and the date we last checked, so you read evidence, not just a claim. Here is how we verify.

Of the caterers we checked, Taj Restaurant and Banquet in Bolingbrook prices by the tray (half trays from $35, full trays from $60), and Shahi Nihari & Chopsticks in Villa Park offers $20, $25 and $35 per-person packages. The others quote by guest count. Prices change, so ask for a written quote.
Which Chicago halal caterers have their own hall?
Taj Restaurant and Banquet in Bolingbrook and Shahi Nihari & Chopsticks in Villa Park both have halls for events of up to about 100 guests. For a bigger wedding, ask whether the caterer will deliver to and serve at the hall you book.
What does HMS certified mean?
HMS (Halal Monitoring Services) is a Chicago-based halal certifier. Its directory says it lists restaurants with hand-slaughtered zabiha meat and only those with a current certification. You can check any restaurant's status on the HMS website before you book.
Did HalalVouch visit or taste these caterers?
No. We checked each caterer's halal status in the HMS directory or on its own website, and took the catering details from its own website. We have not eaten their food or verified them by phone, as we do in Houston. Ask the questions in our catering guide before you book.
HalalVouch presents evidence and the factors to check. We do not issue Islamic rulings. For a ruling on a specific case, ask a scholar from your school of Islamic law. Products, suppliers and practices change, so confirm directly before you rely on this guide.
